This article shall provide an insight into the impact of face yoga and how it can be used to prevent wrinkles.
Face Yoga to Prevent Wrinkles
The reason for wrinkles is that the muscles in the face that are holding the aking together tend to become weak, which in turn causes the skin to loosen up and wrinkle. Face Yoga involves many asanas that can help with better oxygenation of the face as well as strengthening the face muscles in order to hold the skin better.
1. Samanya Kriya
This is a simple breathing exercise that requires you to inhale and exhale whilst slowly increasing the speed of the cycles. What this does is that with the increased oxygen in the system the facial muscles get well oxygenated. A well-oxygenated muscle tends to repair faster and become stronger which helps to a great extent in dealing with wrinkles.
2. Tongue and Cheek Pose
This asana involves the tongue and the cheeks and is very good to strengthen cheek muscles through better blood circulation and oxygenation. To perform this asana the tongue is used to push against the cheek which makes the outer skin stretch and the muscles within the face. Repeat this exercise a few times which helps in developing muscle endurance. As the muscles become stronger they will be able to hold the skin together better which in turn will reduce wrinkles arising on the face.
3. Crow Feet Pose
The Crowimes with Feet Pose is a very simple asana in which you place your fingers against your cheeks just below the eye. Apply some pressure slowly so that the blood circulation improves and raise your eyebrows slowly. Repeat this asana at least 20 times with 20 eyebrow lifts. This asana is extremely relaxing to the face and strengthens the muscles of the face so that it can hold the skin tightly together. The fingers in this asana are placed on certain acupressure points that tend to relax the face and the body.
4. Detox Pose
In this asana, you look up and stretch your neck in the upward direction. Whilst holding the stretch breathe in and out rapidly for a few seconds. Repeat the asana 4 to 5 times. The neck stretch in this asana is extremely good for the skin. Rapid breathing improves blood circulation and strengthens the lower jawline muscles. This not only tones up the jawline but also prevents wrinkles to form in the lower cheek area.
5. Palming Pose
The Palming Pose is a relaxation asana, it requires you to rub your palms together until they are warm and then rub your warm palms against your face. The warmth helps in improving blood circulation and relaxes the face muscles which is extremely important in order to protect the skin from wrinkling.
Can Yoga Reverse Wrinkles?
Face Yoga has many benefits, one of them being reversing facial wrinkling. Face Yoga asanas focus on acupressure points and meridians on the face which manifests lymphatic drainage, which in turn relaxes the face muscles, and improves blood circulation and oxygenation of the face. Due to better blood circulation and muscle strengthening, the skin becomes better and brighter. One of the benefits derived from the practice of face yoga is younger-looking skin with lesser wrinkles.
Can Face Yoga Cause Wrinkles
Even though face yoga has its benefits, it is important to understand that any type of exertion does have the potential to destroy the benefits previously reaped. Even in face yoga, an over practised asana may induce the opposite effect of what it should. So in the case of wrinkles, make sure that you are not overdoing the asanas.
The Bottomline
Finally, it is safe to say that face yoga has carved out its own niche in the wellness market. This regimen’s asanas generate relaxation while also toning and strengthening face features. The regular regulated practice of these asanas can be incredibly good for stress alleviation, as well as stimulating the acupressure points on the face, which has an effect on the entire body. As the muscles get oxygenated better, the blood circulation also improves which improves the skin and strengthens the muscles
